after living with my cat for 18 years, I have finally located the love-bite button.
“Both of these pieces were created when I lived in my parents house by the sea in 2009. At the time I was ready to leave the nest but didn’t have the funds to do so, so I was struggling on the cusp of teenagehood and adulthood and retreated into my painting. Lots of my work around this time features mermaids and bodies of water combined with elements of extreme longing and uncertainty.
Sea Witch is a scenario that I imagine takes place in a seaside town in Italy. She’s this odd woman, feared by the local townspeople because her ways and demeanor are mysterious and she retreats to the ocean to watch the waves and try to commune with the mermaids that she hopes are lurking beyond the surface of the water. ‘There are supposed to be plenty more fish in the sea’ is a spin on that old saying about finding love again - but my experiences with love and relationships have always been a bit lame - and I guess the negative view on a positive saying stems from that. She’s looking at what’s on offer but not really able to find a thing. Once again this is all happening by a sea wall on the coast of a seaside town - lighthouse in view - wind whipping her hair.”
From an Australian News Site:
Stretching from the sunrise to sunset, this 360 degree image was captured by Greek photographer Chris Kotsiopoloulos in Sounio, Greece.
It took him a painstaking 30 hours and hundreds of images to create the amazing time-spanning panorama.
Beginning in the east, Mr Kotsiopoloulos snapped the early morning rays hitting the clouds before clocking the suns path across the sky and then into the night. He was forced to use a hairdryer to keep the lens of his camera from getting too moist as temperatures dropped to about three degrees Celsius.
“I had to stay in the same place alone for 30 hours in total to get everything right, prepare and take the pictures.
“At night it became even more difficult because I had to keep my eyes open and inspect the camera lens for moisture.
